A 2nd Amendment-loving guy who was himself carrying a handgun tried to get the drop on the Millers, but his poor judgement paid off in the form of his death by gunshot.

This particular grim scenario completely undercuts the "good guys with guns" narrative. In this case, it just added to the overall body count, as it likely would in any similar situation, if one simply used common sense.
