I turned them all off in 2004 because I was sick of the lies of omission and the way they treated the presidential race like a horse race, who was where and what the numbers were, while never saying a single word about policy differences.

The televised news media have been asleep on the job for a very long time, their corporate masters watching the money roll in while they roll all the lies out.

I decided to deprive their advertisers of another passive warm body. The weird thing was how little I missed them, it had been only a habit for ages.

If you want to be informed, turn them off and start to read. There are great sources out there, online and at newsstands, that will keep you adequately informed, better informed than the people still watching.

Then again, old Simpsons reruns that were on at 6 PM did a better job of that than the news had.
