(9,359 posts)She also abandoned pushing for Party positions and began posturing and pushing for her own positions, even when they went against (example: payday loans) party principles.
It has also been reported that she used DNC fundraising lists to fundraise for her own elections, something no other Democratic pol is allowed to do.
Dean expanded the GOTV effort and manages to grow the number of registered Democrats. DWS, once again, abandoned the effort and many people left the Party.
In a nutshell, Dean was about strengthening the party, DWS is about strengthening DWS.
I could go on, but I believe you are smart enough to see how these things impact the process and the direction the party is going in
Just a side note: I find it interesting that you bring up the tea party. Dean had his own version in the border militia groups ( if memory servese correctly they were called minute men) and have e managed to sideline their agenda before it got oxygen to expand.
By contrast, I have witnessed DWS in several public appearances throw fuel on the fire and feed the tea party movement. I believe that she believes she was using them as a foil, but she caught the sharp end of the sword due to her political flat footedness.
I know from personal experience that she views herself a political intellectual on the same level with Obama, but it's pretty clear that she's not nearly as savvy as he is, and in fact tends to act more like a blunt instrument wielded by a teenager as opposed to a surgeon's scalpel wielded by a highly trained neurologist.
Thanks for the question.
