If you know someone committed a violent crime and stay quiet about it, why aren't you just as guilty?
That's a fairly simple legal question, and here's a nice summary of the answer.
A good DA could put you in jail for the same amount of time as the perpetrator.
No, that's false. Legally you won't be "just as guilty" as the murderer, and though you might be charged with a misdemeanor in certain states, you sure as hell won't serve the same amount of time as the murderer.
And that's for violent crimes. In the current situation with the DNC, in which no crime was committed, it's not clear that your analogy is even vaguely applicable.
One of my biggest complaints about police is that they refuse to open their mouths when a fellow officer does something wrong.
I agree, and one would hope to hold cops to a higher standard than the average civilian, but is that a legal requirement? I can't find any statute to that effect, so I would appreciate it if you can provide one.Edit history

The people that I have been "disparaging" are those responsible at the DNC who...

Why aren't you just as guilty as the offender, if you don't report their crime?

Yes, the same way I'm uncomfortable about blanket statements re: Bernie supporters.

At its best, the blanket condemnations illustrate a dramatic lack of critical thought

I still haven't gotten anyone to show me a single email that was damaging to Bernie.
