(29,503 posts)that I take a look at a presentation to be given the following day to a community service organization - I don't recall the details exactly and I never again heard back, but among the things I learned from that exchange (between us), one lesson was this:
There are intelligent people who are homeless, who simply need help from those in society who are not, and are willing to use their time constructively. Most adults wind up at some point or other of growing up into compassionate members of society who really do good with their time, mostly. Some adults never grow up.
And while it's true that many people are simply not capable of helping (for a variety of reasons), other people would rather spend their time gossiping about other people, pointing fingers at 'weird' people, and making snap judgments. Thinking of Eleanor Roosevelt's quip here.
I won't be recommending this thread, and I'll let people here decide who belongs in which category.
