13. McCain, at the White House, Questions Obama About Helicopter (23 February 2009)

Senator John McCain took his seat at the White House on Monday and listened to a briefing from one of his economic advisers. The only hitch is Mr. McCain was sitting in the sixth row, not on stage, and the adviser was now working for President Obama.

Let’s just say this was not quite how Mr. McCain quite imagined his time in the White House would look like. But there he was, making his first visit since Mr. Obama took over management last month, joining other lawmakers for the new president’s “fiscal responsibility summit” ...

“I want to see if, John, you’ve got some thoughts,” Mr. Obama said.

Mr. McCain stood and thanked him for holding the summit. “I think it was a fruitful discussion,” he said ...
