Dixie Chicks come home to Texas for a sold-out show

There's a sweet irony in seeing the Dixie Chicks alongside a sold-out crowd in their home state of Texas.
The trio still isn't ready to make nice and probably never will be. And that was just fine Saturday night at the Woodlands Pavilion.
The only boos came when singer Natalie Maines mentioned playing Dallas the previous night.
"I thought Texas was just glad to be from Texas," she quipped. It became a running joke.
The two-hour show, part of the Chicks' first U.S. tour in a decade, was a marvel of musicianship, chemistry and a fierce sense of self. They haven't missed a beat since 2006's "Taking the Long Way." That album was an unapologetic kiss-off to country music that was embraced by pop and rock fans and Grammy voters.
"Not Ready to Make Nice" came late in the set and still emanates considerable hurt, wit and defiance. It was tempered by the weary joy in set closer "Better Way."
