It doesn't only happen to black people, for whatever that's worth.

It sure seems to happen to women more frequently, though. Either that, or those are just the stories that get more attention.

EDIT: Well, it's not quite the same. I've never yet heard of someone being stripped naked in public for such a search! Other examples that I've seen have been more like this:
