In reply to the discussion: Is rolling coal and being a progressive mutually exclusive? [View all]Xithras
(16,191 posts)Environmentalism is one of the pillars of progressivist thought, and coal rolling was popularized as a deliberate middle finger to environmentalists. It's a redneck way of saying "Fuck you, I'll pollute all I want." It reflects a low IQ, conservative mindset that thinks it's funny to pollute the environment, or worse, that rejects any notion that human caused pollution is a bad thing. I just saw a coal roller last week being driven by some piece of useless conservative trash with a bumper sticker that said "Just doing my part to support Global Warming!" That pretty much says it all, right there.
May as well ask whether you can still be a progressive if you dump your used motor oil in the ocean. It's deliberate and pointless pollution, and I wish a nasty case of lung cancer on everyone who does that shit.
