"So, fresh off the summer report from the National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs (NCAVP) that said 20-25% of all LGBTQ people will face at least one Hate Crime." Really? Only 25%!? I am trying to think of one gay person I know who hasn't been a victim of a hate crime in some form. I haven't read the report yet, so maybe they aren't including verbal assaults. I am trying to think the number of times I have been verbally assaulted and I am going back to the 4th grade and stopped around 9th grade before I lost count. Battery: twice; Vandalism: more than 10 times; Death threats: Three (different times) (two involved the FBI); hmmm...what else...

But see, GLBT issues are "boutique issues" to more than a few liberals and progressives. Gay rights aren't really civil rights. Gay kids in crisis aren't a real issue because all kids have a rough time.

On the upside, I have seen more outreach to LGBT youth and anyone interested in ending GLBT homelessness can reach out through Cyndi Lauper's organization: True Colors Fund
