Aug 2016

Sidd Finch could throw a 168 mph fastball, pitched with one bare foot and a hiking boot on the other and played the French horn. He was a Buddhist monk and his first name was a shortened form of Siddhartha, as in the first name of the founder of Buddhism.

He burst on the baseball scene in 1985, profiled in a memorable Sports Illustrated piece by George Plimpton.
