I prefer actual wisdom from historians and philosophers- from Thucydides- called the father of political realism to Herodotus and Xenophon and beyond, (there is something to be said for reading the classics) to Enlightenment figures such as Diderot and novelists, poets and essayists throughout the ages.

Does that sound elitist? It's not. It's my passion for the past illuminating the present.

"Only connect..."

Time present and time past
Are both perhaps present in time future
And time future contained in time past. (I)
What might have been and what has been
Point to one end, which is always present.
Footfalls echo in the memory
Down the passage which we did not take
Towards the door we never opened
