22. Wow - So many people DON'T check up on doctors/clinics, to their detriment.

During my years as a physician credentialing coordinator, I ran across many really bad situations. I found one "physician" who was practicing under a false name - he wasn't licensed at all. I got suspicious when I noticed that EVERY document I requested had his name listed differently. Found another guy - a board certified plastic surgeon - who had been kicked out of Canada, and was now doing some very bad surgeries, here. (I had to review everyone's malpractice history.)

In the last year, before I retired, I discovered two of our pediatricians had been arrested and charged with child molesting. I won't even go into how many chiropractors have sexual assault/battery charges filed against them.

I truly believe that information contained in the National Practitioners Data Bank information should be available to the public. People should know what a physician's history is, before they put their lives in his hands.
