But the three witches of 2004 kept our families tied down for days, one after the other. My older brother's tale from where his family lives on eastern shore of Lake Santa Fe:

We were hunkered down with lantern lights when we heard a multi-engine prop plane swoop low over the house. It went away, but came back again. We thought it was an old Neptune bomber hurricane plane out of NASJAX that was in trouble, and was looking for a place to ditch in Santa Fe. So I ran outside in the middle of the storm to see if I could do something. As I was looking up into the sky, I noticed my roof fluttering, making a sound like those big "engines." Went back inside to wait it out.
