(170,116 posts)40. 2012 had Allegheny and Erie Counties as blue (in the west)

Most of the rest of the state is rural. I think I posted in another thread a couple days ago that the number of registered Democrats alone in Philadelphia was the same as the total population of the 24 least-populated PA counties combined. We also have 36 of the 67 counties that each have a total population of less than 100,000.
Every time we look at these electoral maps, some subconsciously think that the population is evenly distributed across all the counties and it is not. The total population of this corner (SW PA) -

not counting Allegheny (where Pittsburgh is), is 200,000 LESS than the population of this one little county in red (in SE PA)-
If you add in Allegheny County, then the total of that corner would be a bit more than Philly + Montgomery County.

Haven't seen a single Trump yard sign or bumper sticker in Eastern Pennsylvania.

I guess it depends on where you live. I'm a very strong Hillary supporter as I was for Obama,

Hillary will get 90% of the vote in my precinct but Trump will still get 55%+ in Kentucky.
