1. In past years I have had to address this issue very gently on DU

No matter how carefully I would try to wordsmith my Father's Day message, somebody would chime in, offended, lamenting that his or her father was a drunken, deadbeat, violent loser.

So I now keep my mouth shut on Father's Day.
