12. No, the point has been made - and it was about HIS behavior, not her

Putting her in the audience would give some credence to the Republican effort to make her behavior since then (including lies and distortions) the issue.

The problem is the way he treated a young woman, who should have been carefully protected and sheltered during her year as Miss Universe, where she suddenly was in a foreign country, speaking a foreign language, suddenly famous and able to enter places she possibly never even knew existed. Beyond that, his behavior was boorish and showed a real contempt for women who were not according to his own perception perfect.

Not to mention, consider what the alternative was if she really did become heavier than one would expect from a Miss Universe. At that point, she would only be Miss Universe for a few months. There is no way that NY fashion designers, who deal with far more daunting challenges, could not have provided clothes in which she would have looked spectacular even if she had gained ANOTHER 20 pounds from the exercise photos. She has a gorgeous face and a lovely smile - even when he was harassing her. Imagine a different owner, who was supportive, who insured that she had flattering clothes, and did not comment on any increase ... until others brought it up and then made the point that she was beautiful and he/she was proud of the work she had done in her year.

What I do think is a good idea is that the campaign intentionally give many of the tickets to bright, articulate women who are - let's say - not model slim.
