20. I wish the best. My own father had back surgery (a lumbar laminectomy) back in March of this year.

The surgeon said afterwards he also had a herniated disk that he had to repair as well.

It took about two months for my father to mostly recover, and he was slowly walking around with a walker for the first 3 weeks. I had to help him with many things for those several months.

He wouldn't take any opioid painkillers because he doesn't want to risk getting addicted to them.

Even now, he still has trouble bending down too much and occasionally takes acetaminophen for intermittent back pain.
