(16,113 posts)Trump's "selling point" is that he's not part of the party establishment. The party establishment now understands how much they are disliked and are figuring out a way to use this to their advantage. They're scouting for a candidate now who doesn't appear to be part of "the establishment" but one they can control behind the scenes, and Trump isn't that guy. If he were, so many republicans wouldn't have bailed on him. Their candidate may be an elected official like a state governor, but not someone who's been a long-time Washington insider (no Senators, Reps or Bush family members).
After this election, I predict that although Trump may threaten to run again, he never actually will. I think even if he wins this election (which he won't), he's not going to run for a second term.
