The appropriate term is opportunist. Davis lost a nasty primary for governor of Alabama (I still can't see any black man being elected to that office in that state) and burned a lot of bridges. He "switched" to keep his fading career alive in hopes of keeping his House seat or winning some other statewide office down the road. He failed. Now the corporate media parades him around cause he's not only a "Democrat who flipped" but also cause of his skin color (bonus points).
