in that it made public who was getting free or reduced lunch, and who was not. We used to have alternate food service numbers and tickets for kids getting free lunch, and that has been discontinued a long time ago. It is one of those things where I tell teachers that kids don't ask which parents and economic conditions to be born into. Being poor isn't their choice, right?
My sister worked in theschool kitchen, even though we did not qualify for the free lunch. She just wanted to be with her pals, and I think even at 13, realized that singling out folks in that fashion wasn't right. We are activist 'nuts' I guess.
That said, she enjoyed the lunch
And yes, poor children work a LOT. I agree.
