I will say I have yet to meet a person that supports him. I do live in Louisville and as a city and a fan of UL sports people here are outraged over the things he's pulled with the University of Louisville. I think everyone recognizes there was corruption going on at UL, but they doesn't excuse Bevins actions.
Kentucky is an impossible State to understand. Kentucky really could be a Solid Blue State if the Democratic Party tried. I think electorally the numbers are insignificant and they don't devote enough resources here.
This is why KY could be Blue:
1. The cities almost always go Blue.
2. Eastern Kentucky has a lot of people that are on government assistance. Not something we should really be proud of, but it's a reality.
3. Democrats don't vote in non presidential years.
4. Terrible Democratic Candidates for the Senate.
I love Jack Conway, but he is not a State politician. He doesn't have an ounce of bubba in him. Alison Grimes didn't do well against Mitch McConnell, but I think she could become a force in the future. She speaks the language. I would love to see her against Bevin.
Really Bevin was weak candidate he had 2 things work for him.
1. Jack Conway as an opponent. Jack Conway would be a terrific Governor. I hope I'm not bashing him.
2. Fucking Kim Davis! The bible thumpers came out in droves to rally behind her. And it didn't help that Jack Conway, as AG in Kentucky, refused to challenge the supreme courts ruling on marriage equality. So, I think Jack Conway could run for
Mayor of Louisville after Greg Fischer is done, and/or run for John Yarmuths seat when he's finished.
