Here's a personal story:

In 1976 I was living in the DC area, and made up my mind to go down to the Mall on July 4th. My older brother, who also lived in the area initially scoffed, said I was foolish to even consider it, because there were bound to be riots and violence that day. I told him flat out he was wrong.

As that date drew near, he apparently changed his mind, and he, his wife, and their two children went to the Mall that day. We were able to meet up and watch the fireworks together.

Need I point out there were no riots?

Just as there won't be anything bad happening when you and your daughter will be there. Have a fabulous time.

Oh, and as a further note, I'm planning to attend our country's 250th, on July 4, 2026. I'll be telling everyone I see that I was there fifty years earlier.
