He was never anything more than the lowest ranking Secret Service uniformed officer at the White House. So in other words he was given jobs like manning the guard shack and escorting tours through the first floor. Only the non-uniformed officers on the presidential detail would have had the access he claimed to have.

The idea that his book sold to anyone is simply a testament to how gullible wingnuts are.
