high schoolers are rarely very astute and need insight and guidance more than chastisement in their academic understanding.

My first thought was, what the hell were the adults supervising these students thinking when they allowed this? And what kind of crappy history do they teach at Greenfield-McClain? If we're to be incensed at anything in this incident, it should be at the supposed "adults" in charge, both for their supervisory misconduct and their failings in academia.
