14. As a Christian, I used to dismiss the term "Christian right"....

... as being clearly a heretical offshoot of Christianity. But I've come late to the understanding that in this secular age many (most?) people don't understand Christianity well enough to dismiss the Trump-type evangelicals as not Christian at all.

Let me join the OP. People who espouse misogyny, homo-phobia, racism, etc. are NOT espousing Christianity. Fifty years ago it would have been so obvious it wouldn't have to be said.
