Angry, stupid and racist once again. Start the civil rights movement, the women's movement, gay rights, environmental protection, all that stuff we accomplished in the last 60 years or so - gotta begin it all over from scratch. I'm old; I saw what it used to be like. I was a kid then but I remember a family trip to the south and seeing segregated bathrooms and drinking fountains. And then there was MLK and his assassination and the murders of the civil rights workers and the church bombing that killed the little girls, and the Little Rock nine and George Wallace and Orval Faubus. I remember when employers advertised separately in want ads for men's and women's jobs (the women's jobs were secretaries and sales clerks), and if you were turned down for a job or sexually harassed at work you had no recourse at all. I remember when abortions were illegal everywhere, and gay people were afraid people would find out they were gay and they'd lose their jobs, or worse. And here we are again.
