In reply to the discussion: Trump supporter banned for life from Delta flights after rant [View all]CincyDem
(7,397 posts)52. Actually - I like that he wasn't escorted from the plane.
While I understand the appropriateness and why you say that - I go a different direction. To escort him off the plane would have been a statement by the captain (since that's who would have the final say). I like that this decision to ban him for life from a Delta plane was taken at a much more substantial level. It wasn't just a single pilot exercising his judgment in the moment - it was the entire Delta system saying "Nope - not going to be tolerated on ANY of our flights".
And this guy might only be a once a year traveler, the next guy who thinks he should teach the HRC bitches a lesson in the air might be a twice a month business guy living in a city that is Delta heavy. Hit him with a lifetime ban and it's gonna hurt, as it should.
This sets the standard and, at least to me, is a lot more than symbolic...it's systemic.
Additionally, every delta employee knows now that the company has their back. It's a learning curve but I think the lesson here is less for the asshat and more for the pilots and attendants who are going to be on the front line.

Good but still curious as to why the flight crew felt this was acceptable behavior.

See #54. If the crew didn't witness the behavior maybe they didn't think

If he was traveling as an employee his employer should discipline him as well

He did this to intimidate the other passengers. Glad Delta is taking this action against him and
