...feel empowered by Trump's election; they seem to believe they have been given permission to let all their horribleness out. Within bounds of personal safety, we can let them know they are wrong.

We still outnumber them. People at another site I belong to have started sharing acts of resistance.

My favorite from today was a woman who saw a woman in a hijab being verbally abused on a NY subway by a white American man, a self-identified Trump enthusiast. "Mary" called out to the woman as if she knew her, making up a name, something like "Michele!! Imagine seeing you here!" and started toward her. The woman being berated was quick on the uptake and greeted her as an old friend as well. Now there were two women facing the jerk. Then other women joined, one by one. They didn't do anything except be friends. The man left their space and went to another car on the subway. The woman who posted this account said she was shaking, but the embrace and gratitude at the end was everything.

It gave me hope.
