(3,541 posts)Moving is going to be a long process. It's more of what I saw in 2010 and 2016 post election than anything else. I remember going to a post disaster event in 2010 with several congressmen and the usual progressive "booksellers" like Thom Hartmann. The theater was full, and good people, but the number of minorities was nearly zero. If I had to describe the audience it would be "retired school teachers". Nothing wrong with that, but this is in an area of the city with a large number of minorities. Expecting them to show up at the polls is not a given. All votes have to be earned. You can bitch about the media, blame voter suppression and all of that, but it won't change things. When you have nearly 40% who don't vote, you have failed and need to learn from failure. Instead is all I see is left bashing and blaming the "rules". Face it, the Democratic Party as it is now sucks. Obama Care was a political mistake because it was a compromise from a party that has had universal healthcare in it's platform since 1948. And from the looks of it they rank and file still believes same old will work, but it's not the same playing field it was 40 years ago.
So here I am sorting through my stuff, getting ready for a big yard sale in the spring and looking for alternative places to live on my social security which might not even be there.
