characterized accurately based on their action.

They voted for a person who very publicly proclaimed his racism and sexism. They voted to make an avowed racist and sexist the leader of the free world. They chose to put him in power and then acted to do so. They knowingly and deliberately advanced the causes of racism and sexism.

This is not "painting with a broad brush" that might mistakenly include people who are not fairly included in the characterization.

This is describing THEIR action. Their decision. They actively and knowingly chose to increase racism and sexism. By definition that makes them racist and sexist.
