what the right have been saying Obama will do for the past 8 years. It would play directly into their hands and the troops could not be deployed fast enough to stop the slaughter that would come to be known as the start of the next civil war but also the 3rd World War. Before he was finished speaking the "patriots" would have already began killing their neighbors.
Another thing to consider, the military is a reflection of the nation. They have Trump supporters, white supremacists, conspiracy theorists, oath keepers, Bible thumpers and survivalists within their ranks. Sure they all took the same oath to "protect and defend" but they will all act on that oath and on the order to fire on American citizens much differently. The whole nation under martial law? Not even remotely possible.
Most importantly, it would send the barbarians crashing through the gate, while the people responsible will be safe in their bunkers. Within 24 hours our foreign enemies will see this as their golden opportunity. Within 36 hours millions will be dead and our grid and infrastructure would be a shamble. Within 48 hours the world as we know it would cease to exist.

Isn't this what we are trying to prevent???
