The danger is that any "benign" moves by Trump are not also resisted because Democrats always want to believe in good motives. But those moves are insidious because they mask larger, horrific policies and actions. Normalizing Trump on any point is as dangerous as praising Mussolini for getting the trains to run on time or Hitler for creating Volkswagen.
