7. It seems like every year some people have to re-learn how to drive in snow.

It isn't that hard. Take it easy. Drive slower than the posted speed limit; anticipate slippery spots at intersections and slow down before you get there; don't try to blast through big ridges left by the snow plows; if you have antilock brakes don't pump them but use steady pressure; if you start to skid turn into the direction of the skid and not away from it. When it's very cold, be aware that black ice can form on roads. And if you don't have to go anywhere, don't until the plows have been through and the streets sanded.

I'm not going anywhere today.
