(11,175 posts)The GOP knows that there are millions of people who are currently on Medicare and who, despite their visceral response to denunciations of "big government", want Medicare protected. When Ryan introduced his Couponcare voucher plan a few years ago, his bill would have left Medicare intact for those already on it and for those age 55 and over. The obvious political calculation was that they didn't want to tick off the Medicare recipients, or even the people for whom Medicare (i.e., Medicare as we know it) was a real prospect.
If they do it that way again, you'll be OK. People like me (not yet on Medicare but over 55) will be OK.
So, this is reason to be optimistic but only partly. Millions of people younger than us will still be at risk. In reassuring you about your personal situation, I'm not going along with Ryan's attempt to divide us. I am completely opposed to any such bill even if I personally am protected.
Best of luck with your health!
