Trump makes his followers feel powerful. They're mainly poor or working-class white people with little education who have been left behind by globalization. They have no power, & Trump makes them feel like they matter. People don't want a smart candidate; they want one who makes them feel good, & the Orange Circus Peanut delivers every time.

That said, they'll probably turn on him when that ends, and it will. There will never be a wall. New factories may be built, but they'll be staffed by robots & IT people. The days of high school graduates making $20/hr to put things together is over, & will never come back. All those black & brown people who make them so uncomfortable aren't going anywhere. Just wait till no one shows up at Trump's rallies (and there will be more.) Then the fecal matter will hit the fan...when Trump's not loved any more. That's what this is about for him. Attention & adulation.
