(46,345 posts)I can tell you that you are quite mistaken. Plenty of companies that don't sell to the government are very very concerned about what the government thinks. That's because there are really no companies that aren't subject to some level of government regulation and that don't have some interest in what those regulations look like. Trade, labor law, even the cost of postage are all among the myriad subjects on which companies, directly or through trade organizations, attempt to influence government officials.
Yes, some corporations led the way with regard to same sex marriage despite that subject's unpopularity with the repub base. But that was a narrow issue. The counter-inaugural event will be perceived by the entire repub party (and repub elected officials) as a slap at the legitimacy of Trump's election, which will also then be perceived as a slap at their own election. They're not going to be happy with corporations that are listed as sponsors of an event at which both Trump and the repub party in general are (as they should be) called every name in the book.
