Ways and Means is the Big Magilla. He's one of the most powerful people in the land, even though he no longer holds the gavel or the "ranking" title.

You toss him out for a "new congressman"--that's what you get. A new guy at the ass end of the table.

People hate the wheeling/dealing, but it's how the Hill works...and Charlie has clout. Though, as I said, not much longer. Father Time is on all our asses. Plus, the redistricting in Harlem may add a little Dominican spice to the Congressional stew. The district is now Hispanic-majority, and that is good news for Espaillat.

Still, I'm rooting for Charlie even with all his faults--his heart is in the right place and he does put in a full day. If he loses this go-round, I will miss the old lion.
