The GOP didn't "gain" anything in Congress. Democrats actually gained seats in both chambers of Congress (net 2 Senate and 6 House). Certainly not as much as we would have liked but gains nevertheless. Where we need to work is on the state/local levels. The states ultimately determine the congressional districts after a census so that is where the focus needs to occur for the long term.
