When Bush's economic approach crashed the economy, it wasn't just Bush supporters who lost their jobs or their houses. We need to be able to maintain some level of integration because Trump is going to do (more) incredibly stupid things.

When Republicans opted to do nothing productive for the last 6 years, they had Obama at the helm and he wasn't known for throwing temper tantrums. Obama was a serious elected official. Basically the entire Republican congressional delegation, much less Trump himself aren't serious.

But telling people that they are bigots doesn't help. The ones who are, don't care and the ones who aren't bigots aren't going to be swayed by calling them names. The trick is to present a case, arguing that Trump policy A will lead to outcome B and here is why that's bad.
