5. Plagiarists are cheaters, pure and simple.

They steal from others and pretend that what they steal belongs to them. They are the lowest class of people I can imagine.

As a career professional writer, I have had stuff I wrote stolen and re-used by others, who pretended it was their own work. When that has occurred, I've acted. Always, the material had been published by someone I worked for as a freelancer. The magazines owned part of the copyright in my work, typically first serial publication rights. They don't like it, either, so they sic their attorneys on the plagiarist. I got a few small checks from my plagiarists. It once wasn't easy to even know your writing had been "borrowed," prior to the Internet. Now, it's easy, since everything is searchable by Google.

When I get paid to write, my work is my living. Anyone who steals it is robbing me. So, for a known plagiarist to be appointed to a high government position is beyond insulting. A person who plagiarizes has zero ethics or values. It's dishonest from the get-go. While plagiarism isn't really a crime, it is an insult to the original creator of the material and a stain on the reputation of the thief.

This should disqualify Monica Crowley from any federal appointment. Trump should withdraw her name from consideration. If he does not, she should not be confirmed, if the job is subject to confirmation by the Senate.
