(39,215 posts)14. That may be what they think the Ike Age was like but that is not how someone who is poor
remembers it. Ike was a great soldier, good with foreign policy but I do not remember him or congress doing much for the poor. The only safety net thing I remember him doing was adding farmers and waitresses to the social security program.
