...legitimizing Trump's attacks. I think the right wing news outlets do not mind, since they are simply telling right wingers what they want to hear. But, the media outlets that do make some effort to report facts suffer the most to the extent they are not trying to cater to an audience by telling them what they want to hear.

Put another way, Alex Jones tells his crazy audience, the crazy right wing stuff they want to hear. In contrast, MSNBC is trying to market to multiple sub-groups, and it ends up upsetting folks who do not hear 100 percent of what they want to hear.
