When they're looks at the certainty of the rest of their life in prison, it may be the only act left to them. For instance, Harold Shipman, a British doctor who murdered perhaps 250 of his patients (since he signed the death certificates, the exact number cannot be known), hanged himself in his cell: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harold_Shipman . Some of his victims left him money, but some he appears to have killed just because he could. There's no doubt he was egocentric.

Yeah. There's no more Death Sentences ala Dahmer that are allowed to happen anymore.
