8. I envy their parliamentary government.

I think it better lends itself to issues-focused elections.

I also think it puts 'compromise' and 'alliances' mostly on the shoulders of various party representatives who can actually interact face-to-face. Our government mostly puts that responsibility on a huge population of people from all walks of life, many of whom end up feeling poorly represented when it finally boils down to a couple different candidates in a winner-take-all system.

Not to mention the big money influences here.

Edit: And look at our insane expenditures for the military too!
