Sort of like when W. tried to appoint his personal attorney to the Supreme Court. The George Wills of the world need to be allowed to speak the truth from time to time. (Unlike Trump) some of them actually have a brain and some talent and maybe even a little smidgen of values.

Barthes has some pertinent things to say about how the political left has an advantage when it comes to creativity, since they, by definition, are allowed to question and suggest change while the political right is supposed to pretend that "history is nature".
