Talking with a fellow rabble-rouser earlier today, this person made the observation that Democrats and progressives need to learn to be dangerous again. We need to learn to menace the right-wing again. We need to learn to scare the fuckers again, and keep them scared.
Fuck pacifism. The feds and the right-wing have appropriated the memes of Martin Luther King to keep us ineffective, to keep us doing nothing but stupid street theater that keeps us out of the halls of power.
Sometimes you have to speak their language.
Sometimes, you have to tell them that if you continue to wage injustice against us, eventually they will get war back. Punch out their teeth, bankrupt their businesses, burn down their houses, if that's what it takes to put an end to their apartheid and their economic warfare, the ends justify the means.
How did unions get enough power to force big companies to pay fair wages, give them fair hours, implement workplace safety, and so on? By becoming dangerous. By forcing these companies, at times, with violence, to be fair. Interpretive dance wasn't a useful tactic for them.
How did the LGBT community get as far as they did? One word: Stonewall. A fucking riot. Broken windows, all-out clashes with riot cops, four days of mayhem. That's what it took to get the rest of the world to pay attention. Kumbaya didn't get anywhere until Stonewall.
Sometimes, violence works. Sometimes, violence gives positive outcomes.
We have to become dangerous again. So I'm fine with hurting this neo-nazi piece of subhuman filth. He earned it.
