I've been following this case closely. I have a 17-year-old son, and I can't imagine someone doing something like this to him just because he was walking through a strange neighborhood on a rainy evening. As a mother, and as a human being, this whole situation just makes me so sad. And angry.

What gave Zimmerman the right to chase down this boy in the first place? And why did he bring a gun with him? Did he really think he was going to do something good that night?

I really think he expected to be considered a hero for protecting "his" neighborhood. And a teenager is dead because Zimmerman wanted to play superhero.
