"A house divided against itself can not stand." What happens next? [View all]

How long can a nation suffer cultural disintegration before the contradictions can no longer be reconciled?

We are two nations living on the same soil and have been for a long time. The split is between those who have made peace with diversity and modernity and those that haven't. There has always been a Band Aid to cover over the differences. Trump and the Deplorables have pulled the Band Aid off.

"A house divided against itself can not stand." That sentiment is as strong or stronger than when our sixteenth president expressed it.

What happens next?
