llet's not forget, but GOP does have a serious grudge against Chicago. Yes they would love to go ahead and punish Obama's hometown. Yes they have hated Chicago since the events that inspired "May day." But there is still a deeper layer, the fact that many of the Midwestern small towns hate Chicago because it is where many of their children wind up having to go to get a job.. Yes this goes directly to the blue wall that so spectacularly failed in 2016; all those midwesterners that hated Chicago loved puttign trump in as a thumb to the eye of Chicago. What also helps that while many people from the Midwest go to Chicago to try to get a job, there are also many refugees, especially gays and minorities, who go to Chicago because it is an island of blue and all that Midwest red. Think of all those good Christian mothers and fathers who think that if Chicago wasn't corrupting their blue-eyed children that those children would've stayed on the farm and then the good Christians that God intended them to be.

Nothing, I do mean nothing would please the GOP more than to humble the cities, because unlike some Democrats they realize that is not red states versus blue states but cities in versus the suburbs and rural areas. Why do you think folks like Rudy Giuliani were so lauded first or folks like Chris Christie;; the GOP bought that they could turn the NYC area Red. Of course, let's also be honest, they also are trying to go ahead and get the job base away from cities back home, luring with cheap wages and low taxes and "right to work" laws which would make industrialist local royalty. They wind up being offended that even with all this largess that's offered, many corporations don't want to go back to the hinterlands,, because they don't want to deal with the bad education and low cultural activity.. I can say this because I'm from Florida and I have seen companies offer everything and anything only to be rejected, much to the chagrin of many talk radio jocks and newspaper editors who fell miffed that these folks are not running out of their old home city. Double that if education is an issue, because then the churches say "they do not want us to convert their children to jesus and reach them how to eat grits!"

There are many GOP members, especially the Midwest, that would love nothing more than a humble Chicago just as they have taken a lot of pride in humbling Detroit. Let me be clear why mean by humbling, subjugating is more like it. It is absolutely no accident but cities like Chicago and Detroit and for that matter New Orleans were areas where Blacks and other minorities were allowed to actually set up a middle-class. The GOP would love nothing more than to see a bunch of "uppity" people humbled and subjugated. Chicago has a very strong history of being a refuge against the South for Afro-Americans, and nothing would make some GOP smile than the mental image of a bunch of beaten, dejected city type having to walk back to the plantation and being forced to beg to pick cotton.
